On 13 November 2017, the “Gattefossé North America Award for Excellence in Research & Development with Lipid Excipients” is presented to Univ.-Prof. Dr. Mag. pharm. Andreas Bernkop-Schnürch in San Diego, California – for his pioneering work on the development of nanoemulsions for peptide actives.

Market entry in Germany
Green River Polymers expands into Germany with its cosmetics line and concludes its first cooperation agreements with numerous pharmacies – above all in major cities such as Berlin and Munich.

2013Cosmetics line
Our own cosmetics line with pharmacies
Alongside growing contract research activity – above all in the field of personal care products – Green River Polymers launches its own cosmetics line in cooperation with selected community pharmacies. It builds on many years of experience in cosmetic research.

2008Founding
Green River Polymers is founded
Commissions in the field of cosmetic research increase sharply, joined by a growing number of in-house dermocosmetic developments and an expanding patent portfolio. This business division is therefore spun out into a company of its own named Green River Polymers. The company name derives from its research focus on multifunctional polymers and from its location on the river Inn.

Austria’s most successful start-up
The magazine GEWINN names the company Austria’s most successful start-up out of more than 1,300 applicants. Numerous further distinctions follow, among them the Tyrolean Innovation Prize and a nomination for the Austrian State Prize for Innovation.

Dr Wolfgang Houska Prize
The patented thiomer technology developed by ThioMatrix receives the Dr Wolfgang Houska Prize – at 100,000 euros, Austria’s most highly endowed science prize.

2003The beginning
ThioMatrix is founded
In the spring of 2003, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Mag. pharm. Andreas Bernkop-Schnürch – one of the world’s most highly cited pharmaceutical technologists – founds ThioMatrix Forschungs- und Entwicklungs-GmbH as a spin-out of the universities of Vienna and Innsbruck.
The aim of the company was, and remains, the development of high-technology delivery systems and formulations for particularly demanding tasks – for the pharmaceutical as well as the cosmetics industry. Within a few years of its founding, it had developed a wide range of liquid, semi-solid and solid formulations for more than a hundred pharmaceutical and cosmetics companies operating worldwide.
